Dillard University- William Alexander Library Renovation
New Orleans,
Louisiana
Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Dillard University undertook an extensive program of repairs and modernization to the 1961-vintage William Alexander Library. Antiquated window and mechanical systems were replaced; and interior finishes containing asbestos were removed. The renovated interior spaces combine original wood, marble and terrazzo elements with a harmonious new color palette and furnishings. Different seating types and arrangements are provided to allow for a variety of seating postures and either individual or group study. The library’s traditional printed offerings are augmented with the introduction of online and electronic resources accessed from new computer workstations.
